Conor McGregor’s fiancée Dee Devlin has posted a birthday message in which she calls the UFC star a “king” just days after his foul-mouthed rant at Dustin Poirier and his wife Jolie.
Devlin took to Instagram today to celebrate McGregor’s birthday, posting a heartfelt message that was accompanied by three photos of the UFC legend.
“Happy birthday my king! I Love you” Devlin wrote in a post that was liked over 100,000 times in just two hours, and garnered comments from his family members including sisters Erin and Aoife.
She also shared a number of fan edits on her story showing moments from their relationship over the years.
Devlin and McGregor have three children together; Conor Jr, Croia and Rian, and have been engaged since August of last year.
The pair have been dating since long before McGregor found fame, and one photo she reposted even showed them celebrating with his two Cage Warriors titles that he won before signing for the UFC.
But Devlin opted to stay at home in Ireland for her fiancée’s most recent fight, Saturday night’s trilogy with Dustin Poirier at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
And the Irishman’s efforts to harness his most aggressive self manifested in a nasty outburst after he suffered a horror leg break that cost him his bout with Poirier over the weekend.
After declaring that his feud with Poirier “wasn’t over” in his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan, McGregor took a swipe at his rival’s wife, reiterating a claim he had made during fight week that she was in his DMs.
“Your wife is in my DMs, hey baby,” he jeered as Poirier was making his way back to the dressing rooms.
“Hit me back up I’ll chat to you later on, I’ll be at the after party at the Wynn night club. You look in bits you little h**!”
And in footage that was released after the bout from seconds after the bout, McGregor can be heard saying: “In your sleep you’re getting it, in your sleep you’re dead, you and your Mrs, it ain’t over.”
Prior to the bout, McGregor explained in an interview with BT Sport the decision to fight without Devlin and his family in attendance, his first time in a number of years.
“I’m certainly in a vicious mode,” McGregor told Ariel Helwani. “No family around, I’m a bad man without the fam.
“Going from preparing to kill a man and then going home and cuddling the children and feeding them bottles at night, it doesn’t mix.
“It’s that, but also on rest days I would put in work and then have a rest day, but with your family it’s not really a rest day, you’re doing something, playing with the kids all day, going out.
“There were no distractions in this camp and I was able to recuperate fully and it’s shown in the practice room.”
